This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use Soulether at soulether.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. We aim to keep this plain and honest.

1. Who is responsible

2. What we collect

Information you give us. Your answers in the quiz, which may include your date, time and place of birth and preferences about the person you are curious about, and your email address. When you buy, your payment is processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details.

Information collected automatically. Basic technical data such as your device and browser type, your IP address, the pages you view and how you interact with the funnel, and identifiers stored in cookies or similar technologies.

3. Cookies and tracking

Outside the essential cookies the site needs to work, we only load analytics and marketing tools after you consent (where consent is legally required, for example in the EU, EEA and UK). We group them as:

• Essential: required for the site and checkout to function.
• Analytics (PostHog, hosted in the EU): helps us understand what is working so we can improve the experience.
• Marketing (Meta Pixel and Conversions API): lets us measure and improve our ads. This may share a hashed version of your email, your IP address and Meta browser identifiers (the _fbp and _fbc cookies) with Meta.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the site footer.

Our marketing tools may profile you, meaning they group you by likely interests, to show and measure relevant ads. We do not make automated decisions that produce legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affect you.

4. Why we use your data (legal bases)

• To provide the service and deliver your order: performance of a contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
• Analytics and marketing cookies: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw anytime.
• Security, fraud prevention and keeping the service running: our legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
• Accounting and tax records: to meet legal obligations (GDPR Art. 6(1)(c)).

5. Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, only to run this service:

• Vercel and Cloudflare (hosting, delivery and security)
• Supabase (database that stores your answers and order)
• OpenAI (generates your AI sketch and reading from your answers)
• Stripe (payment processing)
• Resend and Amazon SES (sending your confirmation and result emails)
• PostHog (product analytics, EU hosted)
• Meta (advertising measurement and optimization)
• Open-Meteo (looks up the birth place you type, straight from your browser, so it sees your IP address)

Some of these providers are based in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision. We do not sell your personal data.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet legal obligations (for example tax records), then delete or anonymise it. You can ask us to delete your data earlier at any time.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access the data we hold about you,
• have inaccurate data corrected,
• have your data deleted,
• restrict or object to how we process it,
• receive your data in a portable format,
• withdraw consent at any time, and
• lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In our case that is the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA), or your local authority.

8. Children

Soulether is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. For entertainment only

Soulmate Sketch is an AI-generated artistic impression created for inspiration and entertainment. It is not a factual prediction about a real person.

10. Changes
