Numerology chart calculator: all your core numbers from your name and birth date

Updated October 17, 2026 · How we write these pages

The short answer

A numerology chart is the set of core numbers worked out from your full birth name and birth date: life path, expression, soul urge, personality, birthday and personal year. Enter both above and the calculator returns all six, shows every sum and the value of each letter, and explains what each number describes.

Your numerology chart

Your full birth name and birth date. Six numbers, every step shown.

What is a numerology chart?

A numerology chart is to numerology what a birth chart is to astrology: the full picture instead of one headline. Most people know only their life path number, which comes from the birth date alone. A chart adds the numbers from your name, which describe your talents, your private wants and the impression you give, and the personal year, which changes every January.

Read together, the numbers either agree or pull in different directions, and numerologists find the second case more interesting. A life path 7 with an expression number of 3 is a private thinker who comes across as sociable. A life path 3 with a soul urge of 7 is the life of the party who secretly wants a quiet room.

The six numbers in your chart, and how each is worked out

Every number is reduced the same way, by adding digits until one is left, keeping the master numbers 11, 22 and 33 where they appear. The personal year is the one exception: it is reduced all the way to 1 to 9.

A worked numerology chart

Take Maya Elena Torres, born March 14, 1986. Her life path: Take March 14, 1986. The month gives 3, the day 1 + 4 = 5 and the year 1 + 9 + 8 + 6 = 24, then 2 + 4 = 6. Then 3 + 5 + 6 = 14, then 1 + 4 = 5, so the life path is 5. It passes through 14, so it is written 14/5, a karmic debt total.

Her name, letter by letter on the Pythagorean chart: M 4, A 1, Y 7, A 1, E 5, L 3, E 5, N 5, A 1, T 2, O 6, R 9, R 9, E 5, S 1. All fifteen letters add to 64, then 10, then 1, so her expression number is 1. The vowels (A, A, E, E, A, O, E) add to 24, then 6, for a soul urge of 6. The consonants add to 40, then 4, for a personality number of 4. Her birthday, the 14th, reduces to 5. In the year 2030 her personal year would be 3 + 5 + 5 = 13, then 4.

Read as a chart: a 5, the explorer, whose talents work like a 1, the starter, who wants underneath to care for people (6), and who comes across as steady and reliable (4). The 4 and the 5 pull against each other, which numerologists would call the central tension of her chart.

What is my numerology number?

When people ask for their numerology number, they almost always mean their life path number, the one most readings lead with and the one the calculator puts first. If someone gives you a single number for your name instead, it is your expression number, also called the destiny number.

If you want one number to start with, start with the life path. Then read the expression number next to it. Those two describe the road and the traveler, and together they cover most of what a numerologist reads first.

How to read your chart in the right order

Numerologists tend to read a chart from the most fixed number to the most changeable.

  1. Life path first: the theme that does not change.
  2. Expression next: the tools you bring to that road.
  3. Soul urge: the motive under both, often the number people say surprised them most.
  4. Personality: how the world sees you, which explains a lot of first impressions.
  5. Birthday: a single extra gift, read lightly.
  6. Personal year last: the weather for this year, which changes on January 1.

Master numbers, karmic debt and the maturity number

Any number in the chart can land on 11, 22 or 33, and the calculator keeps them. A name with an 11 personality, for example, is read as a more intense, more visible 2. Any sum that passes through 13, 14, 16 or 19 on the way is a karmic debt total, and the calculator names it.

A seventh number some numerologists add is the maturity number: your life path and expression added together and reduced, said to describe who you grow into after about forty. For Maya, 5 + 1 = 6, the nurturer, the same as her soul urge, which a numerologist would read as her private want becoming her public role in later life.

Why numerology calculators give different charts

Three things make charts disagree. The first is the life path method: reducing the month, day and year separately, as here, or adding every digit at once. The second is the letter Y, which some calculators always treat as a vowel and others never do. This one counts it as a consonant unless your name has no other vowel. The third is the system: Chaldean numerology uses different letter values and the name you use now, not your birth name.

None of these makes a calculator wrong, but a good one tells you what it did. This one prints every step, so you can see exactly where two results part ways.

Expression, soul urge and personality: telling them apart

The three name numbers are easy to mix up, because they come from the same letters. A simple way to hold them: the personality number is the front door, what a stranger sees. The expression number is the house, how you actually live and work. The soul urge is the room you keep for yourself, what you want when nobody is watching.

That is why a reading can seem to contradict itself. Someone with a personality of 8 and a soul urge of 2 looks formidable and wants, underneath, to be close to one person. Neither number is the real one. A chart is useful exactly because it holds both.

What to do with your chart

Print it, or write the six numbers on a card, and read each number's page with one question: where do I already see this in my life? Mark what fits and what does not. Then look for the number that appears twice, since a repeated number is usually the loudest theme. Finally, check your personal year, and ask what this year's theme would look like if you took it seriously for the next three months.

Numerology chart vs birth chart

A numerology chart uses your name and date. A birth chart uses your date, time and place of birth to map the sun, moon and planets in the twelve signs and houses. The birth chart holds far more detail, dozens of positions instead of six numbers, which is why astrologers can say more about timing and relationships. The numerology chart has one advantage: you can check every part of it with a pencil.
